I like any class that is a jack of all trades, Up until recently when i fully went to play my own TTRPG i used to play Paladin the most. Its a mage, a fighter, can be sup can dps. I love political intrigue and most bards are fun to have around. I really like the option to use your abilities outside of combat as well (while someone like bard has specially designed abilities just for that)
Yea especially when you look at the full history of dnd, it evolved from a legit war game. Overtime it got fleshed out but they could never really leave that headspace.
