As a map building software, would it be better to customize or use premade campaign maps? It may be a hassle.
Most maps I see online seem purely cosmetic, not functional.

Is Inkarnate worth it?

I used it for 2-3 years. Honestly the whole year is actually worth it if you plan to make maps. I made a lot of them and for that time it was worth it (the yearly pack not by month) However lately i dont have the desire to draw and i am pilling up things for the next map i want to make so i will most likely once i have everything set up nicely in my head, buy 1 month and get it doneAnnoging wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 4:32 pm As a map building software, would it be better to customize or use premade campaign maps? Is Inkarnate worth it?
I just started using it a couple weeks ago. Personally, I think there's a lot of premade stuff out there that could serve you well. But inkarnate allows you to make world maps, region maps, town maps, and even room maps. There's a lot of versatility to it.
I also agree with Yorveth above--it may be best to get everything you need for your maps and make them in 1 or 2 months. Wish I had done that

Can you share any tips on how to get better at map making? Mine are too rich and overcrowded with elements. I'm looking to simplify its design.Yorveth wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 5:12 pmI used it for 2-3 years. Honestly the whole year is actually worth it if you plan to make maps. Do you have any maps you'd be willing to share?
Is Inkarnate worth it?
Really dont, best maps i have made and seen are usually the ones with a lot of details. Mine for exmaple has more than 50k thingys (forgot the right words; maybe asset?) on it. The point is for you to make a map you like and you feel is natural for you. If that is simple make simple, but imo a complex and detailed map is better as people that are immersive in dnd will really love it. they get to study the maps see some hidden things you made.Annoging wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2025 3:28 pmCan you share any tips on how to get better at map making? Overall i would say the most important thing is the layout of the land and where some things are (like borders, rivers and mountains) everything else can fall in later.
I impulse bought it too
