Hello hello, I am Cobalt and I am happy that forums are still being made in the year of our lord 2025. I am a HUGE Pokémon fan, regularly dabble into other nerdery (games, anime, books), and since 2023 I've been into the web revival (I run a website on Neocities which takes up most of my time these days).

I hope to get to know y'all as we grow the forum together

Welcome~ There's something about forums

Some things to get you started:
1. Read the global rules (but we'll assume you've done that, because we like that).
2. Read the section rules (again, we'll assume you've done so).
3. You can receive push notifications if you'd like. To activate them, simply click on "notifications" at the top right and toggle the web push notifications. In your User Control Panel you will be able to select which notifications you'd like to receive.
4. You can edit the theme in your User Control Panel as well. We have several colours to choose from!
5. You are allowed to bump your topics every 7 days.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them, or if you have suggestions, we're open to anything!

I never played enough Pokemon games in my life. I feel like this is a large gap in my nerd resume

Hi, welcome! Another Pokemon fan? But I'm a baby fan, in the sense that I don't actually know a lot about it  I always get intimidated meeting real fans who actually know their shit.

Anyway, nice to meet you!

Edit: oooooh Netherlands AND a Pokemon fan? Awesome! :D

The web revival is a movement that rejects the modern internet ecosystem and seeks to revive and renew the style of web browsing from the 2000's. One main element of this is creating personal websites, which is what you can do on Neocities. It's a vast movement containing multiple subcultures, because there are various different reasons for wanting to return to how the internet used to be. I can't explain it fully, so I suggest you check this wiki entry: https://wiki.melonland.net/web_revival

I think the fun thing about Pokémon is how you can jump in at any generation and be completely swept up by it. Inevitably you will learn the history of the franchise and know just as much as any veteran fan. When did you become a fan?

During the hype in the 90s haha. I skipped 3rd and 4th gen, bought a 3DSXL and got myself Black 2. Then really got into it during XY and then ORAS. Bought a Switch for Sword, which I absolutely did not like, but I played Violet all day every day for two months or so. I just hate battles and I know very little about type advantages and moves and stats. I'm there for the breeding and collecting aspect, back in XY at least when "bank balls" were still niche and only the females bred down the ball. Yes I'm a bit salty that my collection value imploded due to the new mechanics

I'm obsessed with web revival - it really was the right time to be online. These days the internet really feels foreign, and even overwhelmingly commercial.
